Dear Delta Dental of Kansas Participating Provider:
We want to make sure that we are communicating to your patients about dental benefits in a way that is easy to understand. As part of this effort, over the past year we have undergone a company-wide Plain Language Initiative with input from dentists throughout the state. Through this initiative, we are enhancing, simplifying and continuously improving the way member benefit information is communicated.
Examples of Plain Language Initiative Enhancements:
- Redesigned Explanation of Benefits: we completely redesigned our Explanation of Benefits (EOBs) to a more member-friendly format with easy-to-understand terms and language. Some key updates include a high level call-out section that will quickly tell the member what is being paid by their dental plan and what their share of the cost is, a simplified claim detail chart and links for patients to have easy access to all information related to their dental benefits plan including exclusions and limitations. Click here to view an example of the redesigned Explanation of Benefits compared to our old EOBs. Thank you to the dentists who reviewed and provided feedback as we developed the new EOB.
- Simplified Description of Contract Exclusions and Limitations: we reviewed and rewrote our exclusions and limitations descriptions to reduce any confusion and ensure easy-to-understand plan explanations.
- Enhanced Benefit Booklet & Summaries: we reviewed and simplified benefit service descriptions to ensure benefit plan coverage information is written in a way that improves coverage comprehension.
